Human Rainbow Dash - Halloween 2016 Costume

One on the back
For my Halloween costume this year, I'm going as human Rainbow Dash (not Equestria Girls Rainbow Dash). I've got my rainbow wig and rainbow aviator goggles. For the main outfit though, I just got a blue pants/jacket exercise outfit and made stencils (three different sizes) of Rainbow Dash's cutie mark to paint on them. I didn't separate the colors of the lightning bolt in my stencil; eyeballing that was no big deal. I'll probably just wear a white tee underneath and my athletic shoes.

One on the front left of jacket and each hip of the pants
Not sure yet what I'll choose to do for jewelry. I have some gold-colored lightning bolt earrings on

french hooks, or else maybe I can wear my infinite hoops with rainbow rings. For a necklace, I ordered a replica of Rainbow Dash's element of Harmony off of Etsy, but I'm not sure if it will arrive in time.

Homestuck Hoodie + bonus woodburning

I was going to freehand everything, but I didn't want the Rage symbol to end up asymmetric, so I printed out images of each symbol and cut the shapes out of a stencil sheet so that I had a stencil to use.

I mixed acrylic paint with a textile medium to paint the images. After getting an initial coat on using the stencil, I removed the stencil and added more layers of paint/touched up the designs.

Ok, so those of you who know Homestuck are probably wondering why I chose the symbols I did. Life is the aspect I identify with, which is why it's on the front of the hoodie as well as on the back. Blood and Rage are the aspects of my two favorite characters, so they're on there, too.

As for the order of the symbols, well, just think about it for a moment. Do you have it? "Lifeblood" and "blood rage."

On a more personal level, Blood is in the middle because Karkat was my gateway into Homestuck and he's my bridge to Gamzee. I initially found Gamzee incredibly creepy but he was Karkat's friend and moirail so I warmed up to him and have a great deal of fondness for our favorite murder-clown now.

This isn't the first thing I've made with these three symbols. I wanted to practice woodburning some months ago and decided to burn them. (This one was freehanded.) It has no real purpose though. It just sits on fireplace mantle.

Introduction

I want a place to post all of the crafts I work. These crafts could be any number of things. A costume I sewed, a leatherworking project, crocheted accessories, paintings, maybe even just a page from a coloring book that I colored. I want a place where I can post anything. No matter how big or small, how awesome or how underwhelming.

At this point, I'm planning on posting things as I do them, but I might end up posting some of my older projects. Who knows?
